If you have been waiting for an update....Sorry!!! It has been awhile. Life is good at the Axness household, but there is not a lot of time to sit on the computer. We are in full swing with everyone back to work and the holiday season among us. I think I will just give you a little update on each of the kids.

    Reese:

Reese is a "Cracker-Jack." That is what my grandpa used to call all the grandkids, so the tradition continues. She will correct you if you call her otherwise. As you can see by the pictures, she just performed in her first Christmas program at our church. She did a great job and made her presence known. She belted out the songs as loud as she could with a big smile on her face. Reese is very much aware of the holiday season. She love talking about Santa and truly believes that he is watching her every move, which has helped us out. We can say, "Who is watching you?" and she instantly does what she is suppose to. Her favorite thing to say these days is, "I want you to talk to me about it." She wants to know everything that is happening. Reese is still is gymnastics which is loves. I have seen improvements in her skills, which is fun see. She is always quick to point out when she has done something, "Miss Barb! I just did a monkey flip." She loves to be praised. She has been a pretty good helper around the house. She loves making Marcus smile and running around with Isaac. She has started to trace things and she aware of different letters. She is a social butterfly as well as a little on the bossy side, but I think that might go with 1st children.

    ISAAC:

If Isaac could run up and down the hallway all day, he probably would. He is on the go and seems to not run out of energy, EVER! Isaac has been going through a few changes. He is now in a bed. That was a little bit of a challenge, but I think we are good to go. He is finally getting used to it and seems to sleep just fine. Reese and Isaac are actually in bunk beds, so that is something kind of fun. Isaac has been teething.....not so fun, but I think most are in now. We are still working on talking. He says the basic words: duck, dada, stop, NO, yea, hi, bye. Things like that, but we are waiting for the floodgates to open and for him to start talking more! He will get very frustrated if you don't know what he wants. Isaac loves cars, trucks...things on wheels. He also loves Mr. Potato and things that he can put together. And Isaac can eat! He is a bottomless pit. His favorite things are chicken nuggets, meat and potatoes, apple juice, and nutragrain bars.

    MARCUS

Oh my little Marus. He is getting so big, so fast, which makes me a lot sad! He is a very happy little boy. He loves to play peek-a-boo, be in the exersaucer and watch his brother and sister play. He has tried a few different foods, but seems to be much more picky than Reese and Isaac. No rolling over yet, but is getting stonger and getting closer and closer to sitting up.

Marcus went in for his 2 month check. Everything looked good and the best part is he able to come off his Apnea monitor. We are happy to say that Marcus is doing great with his breathing. Marcus is 12 lbs 4 oz and 23 inches. Isaac was the exact same at 2 months and Reese was actually 2 lbs lighter than the boys. Marcus measures in the 75th percentile for both weight and height. Marcus loves to smile which is fun to see. He is still getting up 1 or 2 times a night. Marcus spends alot of time in his bouncy chair as well watching his mobile and sleeping.

Isaac is running around getting into everything. His favorite spot is the fridge. Actually his favorite spot is outside. He loves to run around, play a little teeball, go down the slide, play in the pool and the water table. He is starting to gabber more and more and he most grunts and what he wants. :-) He loves orange juice, nutra-grain bars, pizza, goldfish, all fruit, corn dogs, cheese, and fruit snacks. Isaac loves to read books, play with cars, but his favorite thing to do is play with and follow his big sister around.

Reese is our cracker jack. She is still full of life and loves to entertain us with her gymanstic moves as well as will her dance moves. She is also quite the little singer. Some of her favorites are:

    I'm a little Tea Pot
Do you know the Muffin Man
    ABC's
I've Been Workin' on the Railroad
    Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
    The Wheels on the Bus

Reese is able to identfy most letters and numbers as well as shapes. She can count to 20 and spell her name. All and all, Reese is a pretty good listener. Her biggest fault is she tries to get Isaac in trouble. She whispers into his ear, "Go outside." Things that Isaac should not be doing and she also knows that he should not be doing.

The 3 have been a good combination (minus 1 night). We are enjoying all of them at their different ages.

Going from 2 to 3 has had its interesting moments, but over all, we have all adjusted well. Reese and Isaac love their new brother. Reese loves to help with getting diapers and tickling his tummy. Isaac likes to turn his music on and off on his bouncy chair. I have ventured out a few places with all the kids and just me. We have made 2 successful trips to Target and a not so successful trip to the doctor's office. Marcus and Isaac both had appointments and they happened to be in the most evil part of the day for my kids - 3:30pm. We successfully made it through the 20 minute waiting room wait. We got back to the a room and ended up waiting an hour, they were so backed up. The kids did really well until the last half hour. We were waiting for Isaac's shots and it was complete chaos...Reese and Isaac were running up and down the halls, Isaac was yelling, but at this point, I just let them loose! We did make and found out that everyone was healthy...Isaac is 26 pounds and 33 inches. Marcus had gained a pound in one week! Very exciting. Marcus continues to be hooked up the Apnea monitor until mid-August. We have not had any episodes since the very beginning, so we are very confident that he maturing and getting where he needs to be.

Isaac has recieved 4 new teeth. It was a very challenging time. He was cranky and fussy. We are happy to say that that time has passed. He is still working on puttng words together. His newest is "Dora." He used lots of fluctuation in his voice to make things sound like, "All done." or "I want that." He is kind of making up his own language, but we understand it. Isaac loves animals. He loves going to the zoo and we were able to go to the Underwater Advenutre at MOA and he loved it!

Reese continues to be my helper. She loves to help both brothers even if they don't want the help. She loves to go to gymnastics. She is always to the first to volunteer to demonstrate. Both her and Isaac love spending time at the park and going on bike rides. She is beginning to understand hide and seek and tag. She loves to read books and her imagination is really starting to soar. She will ride on her trike and make different stops at Cathy's, the gas station, the grocery store, etc. She is 100% potty trained, which has been awesome! 1 down, 2 to go!

Well we have had a couple bumps in the road the last 24 hours. Marcus went to do a car seat test. The nurse came back and said that he did not pass. His oxygen levels dropped twice so they wanted to keep him the NICU to observe him. During that observation, he had another spell. That led to him being admitted into the NICU with a nemogram test, which they ran through the night. They hooked him up to watch his oxygen levels and any signs of apnea. We will get the results back later today. One of the reasons he is struggling with his oxygen levels is because he forgets to breath. His coordination is not quite up to par, but I think he is slowly improving.

On top of that his jaundice is on the rise. It went from an 11.2 to a 14 this morning. Right now, he is under the lights to try get those numbers down.

Finally, last night, he was having a hard time keeping his sugar levels up. He was boarding on the low side, which would lead to an IV, which we really did not want to do because that would keep him in for a few more days. In order to get those levels up, we had to supplement him with some formula until my milk comes in. I have been pumping and was able to feed him this morning. He is still eating really well and his blood sugar went way up, so we are thankful for that.

Just a lot of little things that come with a premature baby. We are so lucky to have such a great NICU to send him to. They have been awesome!

    We will keep you updated!

Janice:  Your story basically mirrors our Mark. I know this is an emotional time but just keep reminding yourself he is getting the best care in the world.
    Take care, Janice

Baby #3 is here! Marcus Isaiah decided to make an early appearance in this world. He was born yesterday morning at 5:13 am. The labor and delievery was so similar to Isaac's. The only difference was I had to push for an hour and half with Isaac where with Marcus I only pushed for 15 minutes! What a difference!

Marcus is doing great. He was born at 5 lbs 14 oz and 19 inches long. He has caught onto feeding and has been having regular diapers. We will have to see if he develops jaundice like the other two...this morning, I could already see a little yellow, so it looks like a trend will continue.

Reese and Isaac came yesterday to meet Marcus. Reese was so excited and had so much fun holding him. Isaac didn't even notice that there was a baby in the room. He was much more interested in climbing on the bed, pushing the buttons, and opening and shutting doors. I am sure the reality will sink in soon!

We have had a few visitors through the last 24 hours. 2 of my co-workers, Gwen and Shannon came as well as one of my best friends Tiff with her new husband Eric. Alot of my family will be here this weekend and we will see Brian's family the following weekend when we are at Aunt Julie's wedding.

I will keep you updated as much as possible....not sure how much computer time I will get with 3 running around!

Things are moving right along this spring. We were in South Dakota this weekend for our niece's baptism. It was a great day to spend with family and friends.

We have hit a few more milestones. Isaac is finally walking! I happy to say he made it right under the wire before he turned 15 months. He is babbling a lot and loves to make animal sounds suck as "baa baa," and "quack, quack." He loves to be outside more than anything. Since Reese overtakes the swings, he has found a liking towards the slides. Head first is the only way he'll go! He also loves to play with any type of balls, whether it be shooting it in the hoop or playing catch, it keeps him busy for quite a while.

Reese just finished up her first session of gymnastics. She had so much fun! It was fun to see her progress and her skills improve. Now, I don't think she will be the next Shawn Johnson, but she did enjoy it quite a bit. We actually decided to sign her up for one of the summer sessions. Reese is working on potty training. After many weeks of trying to get her to go on the potty, we finally decided that bribery would work well....so it is the good ole' M&Ms that keep her motivated. It is still a work in progress, but we are making strides.

Baby #3 is getting closer and closer. I am now doing 2 week appointments rather than once a month. Everything has been looking good. Reese decided that we should name it either Dora or Sponge Bob. Ah, I don't think so!

    Comments:
Annette:  I just hired the Lindsay family to potty train my children - worked well!!
Nicky:  We are doing the M&M bribe game too with potty training!! And I think Molly would be in agreement with Reese about Dora and Spongebob for names for baby #3!! Hope things are going well for you guys!
Kia:  Glad to hear thing are going well with you Al!!! We use m&m's as bribery as well.

It has been so long since I have written. Not too much new, but we are so excited to have nice weather!

Isaac is so close to walking, but Mr. Cautious doesn't want to make the first move. If it is any consolation, he is quite the crawler! He is saying a few words - Dada, this, that, and ba (ball). He loves to give sloppy kisses and once he starts, he continues giving them. It is very cute. He loves to eat! Some of his favorites are pancakes, bananas, pizza, chicken nuggets, oranges, and cheese. Even though he plays well by himself or with his friends, he still loves to be held. The one time that we see a different side of Isaac is in the morning....he is not a morning person. He wamts to be held and cuddle, but we that usually does not happen - we are racing around trying to get ready for work, getting the kids ready...so there has been some trying mornings!

Reese...oh Reese. She keeps us on our toes! Miss Social Butterfly loves to go out and about. She will ask me, "Mommy, can we go shopping?" or "Mommy, I want to go to Lifetime." She loves to be on the go. We decided to put her in gymnastics. She LOVES it! She is learning how to walk on the balance beam, frontward and backward rolls, handstands, and many other skills. It is so fun to actually have conversations with her. I love asking her questions to see how she will respond. I would love to say the potty training is going great - but that would be a lie. She does not seem interested in the least. We will keep trying!

Baby #3 is doing well as far as I know! It is most active in the evenings after the kids go to bed. It must know that he/she can have Mommy to themselves!

Happy Birthday to our ONE year old - Isaac! Where did the time go? I am not sure? What a wonderful 1st year he has had.

Papa and Nana Lindsay came down to help us celebrate. We took Isaac and Reese to Chuck E. Cheese and then went home for cupcakes and gifts. Reese really loved all of Isaac's new toys, while Isaac was content with the old ones. We are having his big party in Sioux Falls with cousin Andy in a couple of weeks. Should be fun!

Ok, so it has been awhile!

    Baby #1 - Reese

Reese is doing good. She had so much fun last week when her and Isaac were with my parents. Then she got spoiled even more when we headed to Brookings to see the Axness'. She is learning her ABC's and can sing bits and pieces of it. She is also counting. We have worked our way up to 5. Reese has also entered the imagination world where she loves to play doctor and cook things in her kitchen. Right now, her favorite book to read are the Berenstain Bear books. Her favorite sayings are, "Mommy, look at me!" and "I come with you."

    Baby #2 - Isaac

Isaac is working on standing by himself. He loves to climb up the stairs and is crawling all over the place. He loves to follow Reese around. He has turned into a Daddy's boy. He loves to be with him whenever possible. The sounds keep coming out - dadada, mamama, and nanana. He is a good eater and trying more and more things. Both kids love pancakes and mac and cheese.

Baby #3 - In the tummy

We are up to 18 weeks with baby #3. I had a doctor's appointment yesterday and everything went well. The due date in July 10th. I have been having some of the same cravings with both Reese and Isaac - fruit rollups and chips and salsa. The ultrasound is next month.
